Accommodation
At INAKA Travel, we have built a beautiful relationship with the owner of a local kominka in a small village on the outskirts of Omachi. Nestled next to an old shrine, overlooking tree-filled hills and views of the Japanese Alps, this 80-year-old traditional Japanese home holds the magic of Japanese country living.
The eccentric, energetic, and lively steward of this home, Yosuke-san, has spent years restoring this old home into the beautiful guest house it is today. This home offers a rustic charm that can only be found deep in the countryside, including a goemonburo, a traditional Japanese cast-iron bathtub heated by a wood-burning fire beneath.
Please note: there are three distinct bedrooms at the kominka, each with two to three beds. INAKA Travel guests will be sharing rooms with other travelers. There is one toilet and bathtub/shower (we will be visiting bath houses and hot springs so bathing is easeful and accessible). There is a shared kitchen.
Activities
Activities vary on seasonal availability but include miso making, bamboo chopstick making, paper making, ceramics, soba making, foraging, and more…
